i've finally gone and added comments to my website! comments are all moderated (combo between auto-moderation and manual moderation) so nothing too narsty can get through and spam will begone.

i figured i'd do a general life update in this post too :) the last year has been pretty... eventful and difficult? about one year ago now i lost mulder, my beloved cat of nearly exactly 10 years. i also got my first tattoo, a half-sleeve dedicated to him. my second tattoo came not too long after and is about to be finished soon, a half-sleeve on my other arm of plants from abiotic factor, the game i am still working on. i truly do feel like i've found my home in game development at deep field games, the people there are basically a second family to me. in august, i also got two of four hip surgeries (two on each hip) that have been causing pain throughout my entire body for many years, only finally figured out last year.

so, yeah, it's been a lot! i'm still recovering from surgery on the one hip, and i'm still on a wait list going on nearly 2 years now for top surgery that was only supposed to be 6-9 months but this country is a nightmare.

i am trying to find joy in the little things. if i can make time for it, i'd really like to make a weekly blog post of things i've been up to. books i've been reading, games i've been loving, shows i've been rewatching. just to make this little corner of the internet home when everything else feels like it's falling apart. does that sound fun? would you like to join me?

if so, start here :) i'm almost done with it but i've been slow because of life - i've been reading qntm's there is no antimemetics division which may overtake hugh howey's silo series as my new book shortly. i've also been absolutely loving ai: the somnium files as i play through it with my bestie, and for a game i can easily accidentally sink hours into, my narrative director tagged me in antivirus survivors 2003 professional as a "game made for sev" and. yeah i mean. he's right. it's a survivors-like but windows xp themed and it fucking rules. aaaand i've been rewatching hannibal as a treat before bed. it popped up at the top of "new on netflix" and netflix remains one of the few entertainment services with no ads, which i am growing increasingly tired of, so i gave in to a self-indulgent rewatch for the first time since it aired. oh wow there's so much to love and so much to cringe at. i've always made fun of will graham for how much he says "this is my design" but i never remembered how much he actually says it. it's embarrassing, and i'm autistic. will someone tell jack crawford to leave that man alone? oh, wait...

what have you been reading/playing/watching? tell me about it :)
